Louise Taylor is a freelance documentary photographer working on
both self led and community led projects. Louise has traveled
extensively, and the rural places and peoples she encounters inspire
and inform her work.
Currently, Louise is developing a project that visually explores the phenomenon of migration and settlement within nomadic communities. Two contrasting nomadic communities are the focus of this work; one the Gypsies/Travellers of County Durham, and the other the Nomads of Mongolia. She is exploring the challenges faced by nomads who replace their traditional, transient lifestyle with a more sedentary existance, and is investigating the ways in which they adapt whilst fighting to retain their cultural identity.
